アメリカで今から100年以上も前に新聞に掲載された大変有名な社説が本になったものです。
私が初めてこの本を読んだのは今から20年以上も前のことですが、今でも大事に繰り返し読み返しています。

この本の中で、著者はヴァージニアという女の子の「サンタクロースって本当にいるの？」という質問に答えながら、「人生で最も大切なことは、信じること、信じ合うこと、愛し合うこと、助け合うこと、許し合うこと」などを簡潔ながら力強い文章で語りかけてきます。「本当に素晴らしいものは目に見えない」・・・目に見えるものだけを真実として受け止めてしまい、人を思いやる気持ちなど忘れてしまいがちな現代で、「心」の大切さに気づかせてくれる素晴らしい本です。

私にとってこの本は殺伐とした気分になったとき、気持ちを優しく癒してくれる大事な大事な本です。子供が8才くらいになって、「サンタクロースなんかいない。」と言い出したら是非読んであげたい本ですし、本当に多くの大人にまず読んでもらいたい本です。

とても感動しました！
大人から子供まで、皆が共感できる一冊です。
サンタさんは、皆の心の中にいる・・・。
Virginiaの素朴な質問に対する、新聞社からの素敵な
メッセージ。
何か忘れかけていたものを、思い出させてくれた、そんな
内容でした。
日本語版もあります。クリスマスプレゼントにどうぞ！
