いかにしてアメリカの長期にわたる好景気を維持したのか。全てはグリーンスパンのお陰という。私はその人物がいかにしてそのすばらしいアメリカ経済を築き維持したのか知りたいと思いました。作者もボブ・ウッドワードということから期待持てました。しかし時間の経過と事実関係はわかりましたが肝心な金利をなぜ変更するのか、その思考のプロセスまでは記述できてない様に思います。景気とインフレ、また信用創造をいかにもっていくのか。ＦＲＢ議長としての判断基準まで明かしてくれたら、でもそれは退任後でないと無理なのかもしれませんね。ただ政府とＦＲＢの関係特に人間関係は面白く書かれていて大変参考になりました。金融や政治に携わっている人には読んでおくべき本と思いました。以上

86年から99年くらいまでのFRB議長が金融政策を決定してきた政治的背景や議長の考えなどが詳しく描かれています。87年ﾌﾞﾗｯｸﾏﾝﾃﾞｰ、94年ﾒｷｼｺ危機、97年ｱｼﾞｱ通貨危機、98年ﾛｼｱ危機（LTCM危機）など大きな事件が勃発した時の議長の考え、行動、背景など歴史の読み物としても面白いと思います。世界的ﾃﾞﾌﾚの昨今、今まで以上にFRBの金融政策には注目が集まると思います。現在（2003.09）のFF金利1.00％が今後どのように動いていくのか興味のある方は、是非読んでみるといいと思います。

市場では神様のように尊重されているグリーンスパン議長の素顔に触れた作品。意外なことに、グリーンスパン議長は、ジュリアード音楽院を出ていて、一時は音楽家を目指していたのが、金融界に転身したという過去があった。また、FRB議長就任当初は、なかなか現在のような神秘性は認められず、政策を承認させるのに一苦労していた姿も描かれている。ブッシュ政権からクリントン政権までのアメリカ金融政策の決定過程の裏側も詳細に記されているので、市場関係者にも興味深い一冊だと思われる。
