原作を読み、地図を頭に描きたいと思っていた方には、ぜひお勧めです！
そうでない人も、原作の楽しみが倍に広がると思います。
裂谷から南下した旅の行程、わかりにくいローハン周辺の砦や谷の位置関係、モルドールでの行程も、これでよくわかります。
踊る子馬亭の見取り図や、砦内の構造図、ミナス・ティリスの構造図などもばっちりです。

何月何日に誰がどこまでどう進んだ、という旅程地図もありますので、まさに原作の補足と言えると思います。
高価ですが、もっと早く買えばよかった･･･！！
原作を最初に読んだ当時20年前にはありませんでしたが、ブームになってこういう関連書籍が発刊されるようになったのは、嬉しいものです(^.^)

トールキンの作品を読んでいて、「ちょっと待って、それってどこのこと!?」って思うことが多かったのですが、この本を見て納得。話のほうを読みながら、というのではなく、読んでしまってからこの本を眺めるほうが良いです。とても細かく作ってあって、年代や出来事を追っているので判りやすいし、楽しんで読むことができます。トールキンの世界をもっとよく知りたい人は必見!!地図はトールキンの本にあった地図と同じように作ってあります。ただし、指輪をこれから読もうという人は、そちらを読んでしまってからでないと、話の楽しみが減るので注意。

トールキンファンならぜひお勧め。『ホビットの冒険』や『指輪物語』、『シルマリルの物語』に出てくる土地や、登場人（？）物の家の内部まで、詳しく描かれています。この本を眺めていると中つ国の景色が目の前に浮かんでくるようです。物語を読み返すとき、様々なシーンがよりリアルに想像できます。
