Deltora Quest全８巻を読み終えました。このシリーズ、表紙のモンスターが
ちょっとグロテスクで（１巻と７巻はそうでもないけど）読むのをためらって
いたんですが、読み始めると話の面白さに絵は気にならなくなりました。
どの巻もテンポよく話が進みますが、この１巻は冒険の始まりだけあって
特に展開が速いです。

英語は、読みやすいながらも決して平坦で安っぽい感じはせず、なかなか
読み応えがある文章です。全巻を通して言える事ですが、ストーリーは
行き当たりばったりではなく、よく考え抜かれているのが素晴らしい。
アクションあり、また、なぞなぞもありで飽きません。
（なぞなぞは主人公達と一緒に考えると楽しいですよ。）
冒険ファンタジーが好きな方なら、ぜひ。
すごく面白いです。

作者は邦訳も出ている「ローワン」シリーズを書いたエミリー・ロッダです。Shadow Lordに侵略されたDELTORAの国を救うために７つの宝石を求めて冒険する物語なのですが、小学生中学年程度を想定して書かれたお話なので、ストーリー展開も速く「どうなるんだろ？」と思い続けながら最後まで読めます。洋書に初めて挑戦しようと思うならお勧めの一冊です。

4-8才向けにカテゴライズされていますが、大人でも
充分楽しめます。訳本も出ていますが、英語自体
比較的シンプルに書かれていますので、意味が取り
にくい部分は少ないと思います。
テンポ良くストーリも展開し、飽きることもありませんでした。
早速2巻を読み始めようと思いました。
