Synopsis

The second edition of this book contains new units, more exercises, and a free Audio CD with recordings of example sentences so students can hear the grammar structures they are learning. The workbooks provide students with further practice opportunities. Each of the 116 units in the Student's Book is presented in a two-page spread, with simple, clear explanations on the left-hand page and practice exercises to check understanding on the right. This new edition includes an Audio CD with example sentences, ten units of new material more exercises per unit, and a new section of Additional Exercises that give students the opportunity to consolidate what they have learned. Editions with and without answers keys are available. Basic Grammar in Use, Second Edition, can be used as a class text or for self-study. Teachers using a main course book in lower-level classes may wish to assign this text as a reference guide so that students can look up grammar points that cause them difficulty.

よく、英語を話すのに文法の学習は必要ないという人がいますが、そんなことはないと思います。
この本は、日常会話に必要な基礎的な文法を学びたい方にお勧めします。
私は英語のやり直し学習を始めるにあたり購入しました。評判通り使いやすい本です。

ユニットは116まであり、練習問題の数がハンパじゃないです。とにかく問題を解けと言わんばかりです。
解説はもちろんすべて英語ですが、微妙なニュアンスがすっと頭に入ってきます。
TOEIC400点ちょっとの私ですら、挫折することなく最後まで進めました。
1ユニットは15~30分程度で終わる程度のものですから、毎日少しずつやっていけばそれほど負担にならないはずです。
一冊終わらせれば、あなたの英語の基礎がしっかり固められていることに気づくでしょう。
ちなみに練習問題は別のノートに答えを書いた方が、答え合わせの時に楽です。
付属のCDの会話の速度は少しゆっくりめに感じました。
すべての例文が入ってるわけではありませんが、この安さなので良しとします。

このシリーズは種類が多くて違いがわかりにくいのですが、独習者はタイトルにWith Answersとついているものを購入しましょう。
中級者用にGrammar in Use Intermediate With Answers（アメリカ英語）、English Grammar in Use With Answers（イギリス英語）もあります。

図やイラストがとても多いので、視覚的に物をとらえるのが得意な人におすすめです。
学校で習わなかった（習った人もいるかも知れませんが）　willとbe going to　の違い、
未来を表す現在進行形　be doing　( ex. I'm doing tomorrow.)、have と同じ意味のhave got　など、

ネイティヴが非常に良く使う表現がたくさん含まれています。中学生レベルだからといってあなどれません。

やっていくうちに、ネイティヴとの会話や映画の台詞の「簡単な事を言っているはずなのにわからない」ところがかなりラクになります。

外資系企業で働いています。よりシンプルで効率の良い英語を話すため、息子が英語を勉強するようになったときに手助けできるようになることも考え、徹底的に勉強しました。内容は非常にシンプル、左ページで分法事項を例文と絵によって理解し、右ページで文法事項が理解できたかを演習問題で確認するといった方法。全ユニットが満点取れるまで学習する（1ヶ月前後で終わる）事に意味がある。日本の中学レベルの学力で十分対応できる内容だが、しっかり身に付けないと次のレベルに進んだときに躓く。これを終えたら、同著の中級をやろう。分法と同時に、英単語の本をやると効果的、お勧めはZ会の速読速聴BASICのような、ストーリー性のあるものが良い（ヒアリングの練習にもなる）。
