いとこが海外旅行の際に買ってきたという本書を、鮮やかな表紙のイラストに見せられて手にしました。パラパラとめくっているうちに挿し絵のすばらしさと独特なシュールなキャロル節に引き込まれ、ついつい読みふっけてしましました。「不思議の国のアリス」を読み返すのは小学校以来でしたが、とても懐かしく、また「鏡の国のアリス」は初めて読んだのですが、これもまた存分に楽しむことができました。いとこの本を借りて読みましたが、何だか手放すのが惜しくなり自分用に一冊購入することにしました。価格もリーズナブルですし平易な英語で書かれていますので、英語の原書にチャレンジしてみたいと思っている方は是非！　英語好きな中学生でも充分読めると思いますよ。

　アリスシリーズには色々なレベルがあります。そのなかでもこの本はレベルが高め。
　例えば冒頭。レベルが低いタイプだと「Alice was being bored.She sat under the tree with her sister.」と書かれているところが「Alice was being to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank,and of having nothing to do;…(以下省略)」となっており単語のレベルも少し高く、一文がとても長くなっています。

　bankが土手の意味だと気づかない方は、もう少しレベルの低いペンギンブックなどをオススメします。

テニエルの版画もきれいに入っていてお得です。
ルイス・キャロルは言葉遊びがすばらしいですが、やはりそこは原書で読むのが最適でしょう。
この値段で2つの物語が入っているのは安いですね。価格の付け間違えかと思いました。
ペーパーバックですが、それ故に軽くて持ち運びやすく、気軽に読めます。
私は2冊買いましたが、1冊は保存用に、もう一冊は持ち運びようにしています。
くり返し読んでも面白い本です。
