この短編集で、ミス・マープルの真髄を味わってください。贅沢な13篇です。買って損はありません。私は旧文庫版で3回読み返し、娘に児童版を推薦し、今回このクリスティ文庫を購入しました。
みんなから始めは数のうちにも入れられていない老婦人が、実は抜群の洞察力と推理で謎を解く。これがたまらなくうれしいのです。

ひとつひとつのお話も、その語り手の個性とあいまって全てパターンが違っており新鮮です。

　小説家、女流画家、元警視総監、老牧師、弁護士
そして、小説家の伯母老嬢マープルの６人が、
毎週火曜日に集まって、迷宮入り事件を各人が披露し、
「どういう種類の頭脳が事件を一番うまく解決できるか」
競おうと「火曜クラブ」をつくります。
　みなの予想に反して、
　安楽椅子に腰掛けて、編物をしながら話を聞いていた

ミス・マープルが事件の真相を当てていきます。
「セント・メアリ・ミードのような村に長年暮らしてまいりますと、
人間というものが少しは見えてきましてねえ」と語りながら。

　可愛いおばあさんミス・マープルの１３の短編で作られた
「火曜クラブ」は、
小学３年生の時に児童書で読んで以来
私の大好きな推理小説です。

　部屋に座って安楽椅子に座ったまま、話だけで犯人を当て、
しかも、古風で、愛嬌のある風貌の老婦人。
　「わたしがあなたなら、やりませんね」と
必要ならば的確なアドバイスもしてくれる魅力的な
おばあちゃんが探偵役。

　私の１番好きなお話は「舗道の血痕」
　女流画家の
「舗道のうえ血がしたたっていたのに、消えてしまった」

怪談のような話を合理的に解決してしまう様は
さすがです。

　今回クリスティー文庫として、訳文も新しくなったと知り
買い求め改めて、楽しませてもらいました。
　何回読んでも面白い短編集です。

これまで、ポワロものを中心に読んできた、クリスティーですが、この度、「クリスティー文庫」の刊行を機に、ミス・マープルものを、と思って、手に取った一冊が、この作品。
様々な職業を持つ男女が一堂に会して、各々が出会った「迷宮入り事件」を紹介し、その真相を言い当てるという趣向の「火曜クラブ」。

最初、イギリスの片田舎でひっそりと編み物をして暮らす老嬢マープルに、皆は関心を示さずにいたのだが、次々と真相を言い当てる彼女に、クラブの面々も脱帽する。
私も、彼女の活躍に夢中となり、現在、マープルものの長編第1作『牧師館の殺人』を読んでいる最中である。次は、『パディントン発４時５０分』かな？
