動物園へ向かう10両の貨車には、それぞれ1から10までの数の動物達が乗っています。エリックカール独特のきれいなコラージュの動物達で、子供達の目をひきつけます。文字は全くありませんので好きにストーリーを作ってみたり、各ページに隠れている小さなネズミをさがしたりして楽しめます。

子供が１歳位の時に、ネイティブの方から頂きました。
（英語の）絵本の読み聞かせデビューにとのこと。
開くと、文章はないので、英語が読めないママはホッとしました。

文章がないので、逆に簡単な英語、123・・・とかエレファント、
ジラフなど一人一人、自分ならではの楽しみ方ができると思います。
エリックカールならではの色彩もキレイですが、ちっちゃいネズミさんがどこにいるのか探すのも楽しいです。

家の子は、ページにでてくる動物の鳴きまねをすると目を輝かせました。
クイズ感覚で、動物の鳴き声と名前・数を覚えるのも楽しいです。

娘が０歳の時に買いましたが、その時の反応はイマイチ…
でも４歳になった今、数を覚えるのに最適な絵本と変身しました。
数を数えるのと、数字を覚えるのと、２種類に使えます。
子供の大好きな動物の絵なので楽しんで見れますし、
大人から見ても素敵な絵です。
