内容を見ずに買うわけですから、届いて初めて『読むところがない・・・。しまった！』と思い、２歳２ヶ月の男の子に１度読んで片付けました。翌日、日本語の絵本を読みかけると『ないない！ペンギン！』と言って、昨日 Please Be Quiet! を片付けた所を指差すのです。それ以降も自分で何度も引っ張り出しては読むようになりました（読んだつもり）。鮮やかな色合いと「音」がきっと気に入ったのだと思います。でも、もう少し文章が欲しかったかな・・・。

Mary Murphyさんのペンギン親子シリーズは、どれも楽しく、最後には必ず笑顔になれる本ばかりです。特にこの「PLEASE　BE　QUIET!」は、小さな子どもが必ずする遊びを通して、母親ペンギンが子どもペンギンに注意をしますが、最後にその子どもペンギンが赤ちゃんペンギンに「シー静かに！」と注意して終わるという落ちがあり、私ども親子も大変楽しく読んでいます。小さなお子さんがいる方に絶対お勧めです。

いたずら大好きのペンギンくんは、いつもお母さんに叱られてばかりいます。
そんなペンギンくんが思いついたあるアイデアには赤ちゃんペンギンへの優しい思いやりがこめられていました｡読み終えた時、お母さんと子どものあたたかい関係に心がほんわか温かくなりました｡英語も短く読みやすいので、子どもたちの英語教材にもぴったりだと思います｡
