この本にひかれた理由、それは、カセットつきだということ。
それから、価格がとっても買いやスーいお値段だったということ。
本当にそんな単純な理由だった。

しかーし、届いてびっくり。
開けてびっくり。
聞いてびっくり。
見てびっくり。
びっくり続きの本だったのだ。

何にそんなに驚いたのか？

まず、絵がかわいい！！
それに、全部で64ページもあって、すごいお得感！
英語も平易だし、色もきれい。
内容も、リズムがあってとても楽しい英語がのっている。
テープを聞いてみる。
のりがいい英語（リズムがいいのだ）が聞こえてくる。
思わず口ずさんでしまいそうな英語だ。

HOPは、ぴょんぴょん飛ぶという意味。
POPには、意味が２つある。
ひとつは、ぽん、という音。
もうひとつは、お父さんという意味。

HOP （ぴょんぴょん）
POP　（ぽん）

We like to hop.(　僕らは、飛び跳ねるのが好き）
We like to hop on top of Pop.　（僕らは、お父さんの上で飛び跳ねるのが好きなのさ）

STOP（おやめ）

You must not hop on Pop.　（お父さんの上で飛び跳ねちゃだめ）

というふうだ。
こういうとても語呂のいい、音のこぎみのよい英語が続く。
カセットを流すだけでも楽しくなっちゃう。
赤ちゃんに、絵を見せながら、音を聞かせる。
ママが一緒に、HOP,POPと言ってみる。
ね、楽しくなってくるでしょう。

本当によく工夫された楽しい本だ。
お勧めです。

カセットを聞きながら絵本をめくっていた３歳と５歳の我が家の子どもたち。楽しい効果音と、リズミカルで個性的な声色にすっかりはまってしまいました。自分たちも一生懸命カセットのまねをしては、２人で笑い転げています。小さいお子さんでも英語に親しめること間違いなしです。

Dr. Seuss の本を買おうと思われる方は、これを最初に買うといいかもしれません。簡単だし、ライムで、たのしく出来ていて、テープを一度聴けば、すぐに口に出てきます。Dr. Seuss の導入の絵本としては、お勧めです。3歳の息子もすぐに気に入りました。
