今、大人気のパリス･ヒルトンとかニコール･リッチーとか、こんなカンジなんだなぁって思います。フツウの人ができないようなことを当たり前のようにやってのけちゃう。持ってないものも当たり前だとフツウに買えちゃう。その価値観の違いがちょっとムカっときちゃうけど、でもやっぱセレブって憧れちゃうX＞ 深く考えないで、軽い本だって思って軽く読んじゃえばおもしろいし、すらすら読めちゃいます。でも、翻訳版は単語そのまんま直訳してるみたいで主人公の個性が消えちゃってる感じがします。だから、英語読めちゃう人なら原書を読んだほうがいいです。

　初めのうちは、美男美女、ファッション、金持ち、パーティー、ゴシップ、クスリが登場する内容がとてもエキサイティングに感じられるけど、そのうちすぐに慣れて、退屈してくる。しかし読み終わるころには退屈を通りこして登場人物に親しみをかんじ、彼らのその後、つまり次の巻が気になるようになる。これがこの本の醍醐味かな。

　英語で読んでも簡単で、知らない単語を調べないでもあらすじは理解できる。でもせっかくなら楽しいからマメに辞書を引きながら読んでみて！とにかく英語で読んだほうが雰囲気が楽しめるから、ぜったい英語で読むのがオススメ。登場人物たちの会話から、なにげない、しかもスマートな、日常の英会話も知ることができる。

登場するティーンエイジャーは、一見私たちと同じようで、実は違う。住むところが、違う。彼女たちのお家は、NYのアッパーイーストサイド。超リッチなセレブの街。彼女たちは女子高に通い、自分自身の部屋とバスルームと電話線を持っている。欲しいものは何でも手に入るし、ルックスをキープすれば、お酒だって飲んじゃう。

でも、やっぱり心は私たちと同じ、ティーンエイジャー。恋に、母親の再婚に、友達関係に、毎日頭を悩ませてる。そんなところを読んでいると、自分と重なってきて、普通の本より何倍も楽しめるかも？
そんな彼女たちの生活を、密かにゴシップとして掲示しているBBSがあった。その名は、Gossip net(ゴシップ・ネット)。彼女たちの街での目撃情報とか、彼女たちの秘密とか、全部そこに公開されてるってわけ。Gosship girl(ゴシップ・ガール)によって管理されているみたいだけど、正体は不明。この物語は、そのゴシップ・ネットを中心に展開していく。そのゴシップ・ネットで大まかな話の流れがわかる、その後に本編が始まる感じ。ちょっと今までにないスタイルだよね。
