効果音付きの朗読が、よくできてます。
是非、CDを聞きながら読むべし。
子ども向けの絵本なので、大人にとっては、
少し物足りないかもしれません。
でも、子どもたちにはウケがいいです。
絵本を見せながら、CDをかけると、
効果音だけで、笑いだします。
ちょっと、昔の紙芝居のような感じです。

Halloween の時季にぴったりの本です。
最初は気味の悪い絵に驚きましたが、内容もタイトルのように
恐がらせつつ、恐すぎない（少しは笑える？）内容になっています。
簡単な英語ではありますが、中学高学年/高校生１年生くらいが
ヘルプなしでだいだい内容を理解するレベルです。
この子達でも50くらいは分からない単語があります。
しかし！上手に描かれた絵と情況でほとんどは推測できます。
おまけにCDでのうまい！朗読と効果音がありますので、
それ以下のレベルでも内容が分かるようになっているのです。
一旦、内容を理解すれば、子供が何回も見たがる/聞きたがるのも
うなずけます。

Halloween Party で子供たちに読んであげました。　モンスターが出てくるページをめくるときには ”恐すぎるひとは手で目をおおってね”と言いました。子供たちはちいさな指の間から絵本を見ていました。”少しも恐くなかったよ”と言う子がほとんどでしたが、そうでもないようです。きっと特別な本になったとおもいます。ウチの子供たちはまだ英語だけで理解できないのであえて日本語解説つきで読んであげましたが、付属ＣＤだと効果音もたくさんあって恐ろしさも増すとおもいます。
