子供のころに読んでもらった本のなかの一冊です。 闘牛の荒々しいうしとは正反対の物静かな一頭のうし。でも、けっして臆病ではないのです。力を持っていながら、それを誇示することなく、平和の象徴ともいえる花を愛す。我が家の息子にもFerdinandのような心の持ち主に育ってほしいと思います。

荒々しいイメージを持つ闘牛ですが、
この本の主人公のFerdinandは花が好きな物静かな闘牛です。
いつも静かに座って花の匂いを嗅いでいるFerdinandなのですが
マドリッドの中でもっとも大きくて速く走る闘牛を５人の闘牛士が
探しているのですが、ひょんな事からFerdinandは選ばれてしまいます。
そして、、、。
白黒の絵からなっています。
