一生の買物で一番高いものといえば、やはり「家」ではないか。都心に住むなら分譲マンションが手に入れやすいし便利だろうけど、天井が低かったり、防音が弱かったり、どこか痒いところに手が届かないもの。自分や家族が本当に快適な毎日を過ごすのであれば、マイハウスは現代の最高な贅沢だろう。この本には、世界の斬新なデザインの住宅が１５０軒（１軒約４頁で合計６００頁）にわたって内容濃く紹介している。ただの写真集ではない。図面（見取図）もある。ざっと眺めてみてアイデアを膨らませるだけでも楽しいが、実際に家を建てる際には建築家や設計事務所と相談し、建築イメージを共有するためのツールとしても有用だと思われる。

モダンリビング的な家を建てたくて沢山の写真集を買いましたが、この本１冊に全てが集約されていました。外観、インテリアの素敵なアイデア満載です。とかく日本の環境じゃ？？？という写真集が多い中でこの本は実現可能なデザインがいっぱいです。何度見返しても新鮮な感動があります。小ぶりなサイズもGOOD。

本書が来たとき、重さにビックリしました。600ページ。

近代アート的な外国の建物がもり沢山。
狭い住居生活を余儀なくされている日本人には憧れの広さの家が載っています。
開放的な窓も大きく、プールや暖炉など、どれも素敵です。

色使いやインテリアなどは参考になるかもしれませんが、台風や湿気の多い日本の事情を考え、実際に家を建てる時　本書で紹介されている外見や間取りなどは参考にはならないと思います。こんな家に住んでみたいなぁなんて、夢を見るにはいいかもしれません。

そこまで絶賛する程は無いので★３つにしました。
