The Lord of the Rings CD Gift Set イギリス版、US版と悩んだ挙句こちらに決めました。
内容等の詳細は他の方のレビューに既出なので、商品が届いて私が一番驚いた装丁について触れたいと思います。

US版しか画像が無い為、UK版も同じ様な装丁かと思いきや、CDケースにはアラン・リー氏のイラストが使われています！
予想もしてなかったので、これに何よりも驚きました。
ジャケットを全部並べるとそれだけで麗しく荘厳ささえ感じます。
CDの全てが収納されているケースは、左右上の三面は黒い無地のバックに黄色い文字でトールキン教授の名前とタイトルが入ってるだけなんですが、後ろの一面には、映画のワンシーンの旅の仲間９人とサムの連れたビルが列になって歩いている姿が使われてます。

顔が見てとれる写真ではないんですが、薄明かりの中を進む旅の仲間達の姿がとても趣があって素敵です。
ケースは多少なら撥水効果もある様な質感です。

US版は持っていないので私には比較検討は出来ませんが、アラン・リー氏のイラストが使われてるというだけでも、嬉しい指輪ファンは多いのではないでしょうか？

US版よりは幾分値段が高いですが、私はUK版を買って本当に良かったと思います。

　ジャケットもステキだし、コンパクトに収納できるので保存には大変良いと思います。　それにも増して、朗読が素晴らし過ぎます！本当に一人の俳優さんが読んでいるの？と思うくらい登場人物の特徴を良くとらえて声色を変えています。特にオークやゴラムにいたっては名演技です。セリフだけをつなげればりっぱなラジオドラマになるかと思うくらいです。おまけに詩の部分にはメロディーを付けて歌ったりもするのでまったっくあきません。
　ＣＤ一枚は文庫本（日本語訳）の約６０ページ分。ゆっくりペースです。
　厳格な響きのイギリス英語が耳に心地よい、買って損はしないＣＤです。
