5.0 out of 5 stars ボーナストラックは歴史的資料, 2010/1/31
もう何も言わずもがなの名作。
マイケルのデビュー作としてあまりにも完成度の高い1〜9に関しては、ここで言葉は要りません。

今回興味深かったのは、1979年9〜10月に録音されたという10〜14のボーナストラックでした。
リズム隊はモ・フォスター＆サイモン・フィリップスではなく、
ビリー・シーン＆デニー・カーマッシーというこれまたすごい布陣。
当時から必要以上に派手なディストーションをかけた要所でのビリーのベースが印象的で、
5 “Feels Like A Good Thing”の原型となったと思われる13 “After Midnight”で、
マイケルのギターより、むしろデニーのドラムとビリーのベースが目立っている点が印象的でしたが、
全体的に曲の完成度やマイケルのノリといった点でも、あくまでもアウトテイクといったものばかり。
ギターソロもほとんどなく、マイケルもリフのみで流しているという典型的なギグに終始しています。
繰り返し聴くというよりは、マイケルの音楽史上の大切な資料というポジションになるでしょう。

同時にリマスター化発売となり、生まれ変わった“神話”に比較すると
こちらはその効果があまり判然としませんでしたが、いずれにせよすばらしいアルバムです。

このアルバムは高校生の時によく聞いてましたが
今回の来日を期に懐かしさのあまり買ってしまいました


なんでしょう？孤高のギターヒーローといいますか、

決してメジャーな雰囲気ではなく、
暗闇の中でスポットライトを浴びてギターを弾いているマイケルの姿が目に浮かんでくるような
そんなアルバムです

久しぶりに聞いてみて、
高校生のときにはそれほど好きでなかった曲のすばらしさに気づいたり
昔から好きだった曲に涙したりとおっちゃんを楽しませてくれました

２０数年ぶりに見たLIVEでも
サイモンの正確無比なドラミングと併せて
マイケルは最高のパフォーマンスを見せてくれました

サイモンとマイケルは相性がいいですね

これまでもちょこちょこと新作が出る度に買ってましたが、
私にとってはやはりこのアルバムがマシケルシェンカーグループの最高傑作です

INTO THE ARENA は涙なくしては聴けません。
