人間と妖が共存する世界【あまつき】
自らと理が違う明確な「他者」を目の当たりにした時、自分の存在価値を守るため、
人は相手の理の存在を認められなくなる。
妖怪退治=功徳だと妄信していた若き日の沙門は、朽葉を母親のように守ろうとしている狗神との邂逅によって　それが人間側の一方的な理なのだと気付き始める。
しかし自分の理、相手の理、どこまで譲ってどこまで守ればいいのか、誰にもわからない。
家族の無理解の中で育ち、自分を唯一正当化できる妖退治に縋っていた胡僊は、
自分の中の絶対の正義に迷いが生じ、迷い自体に押しつぶされそうになる。
空から聞こえてくる囁きは、沙門の出した結論と重なる。
わからないまま、迷いながら生きていけばいい。それが人間の本来の姿。
安易に決めつけ、考える事を止める方が恐ろしいことなのだと。　
人間と妖の関係の話ではあるが、人間同士にも当てはまる、作品のテーマを突いた第八夜。
露草と平八の間に芽生え始めた友情は、答えのひとつになれるのだろうか。

キャスインタビューは、アニメ続編を強く希望し梵天役に惚れこんでいる諏訪部順一の姿勢が
あまつきファンとしては嬉しい。
小杉十郎太の空五倍子役によせる思いも必聴。
オーディオコメンタリーは小杉十郎太、中田譲治、大川透(空五倍子、沙門、佐々木)のダンディーな声の３人組。
平均年齢高い３人の会話は既巻のそれとは一味違う、渋い。
