<ストーリー>シロツグ・ラーダット。彼は戦わない軍隊、「王立宇宙軍」の兵士。
この30年の歴史を誇る宇宙軍も政府には見放され、今じゃ人間どころか人工衛星すら満足にあげられない。いつの間にやら、宇宙への夢も遠ざかり訓練もさぼり放題のシロツグ。そんなある日、街で神の教えを説くふしぎな少女リイクニに出会ったことでシロツグの運命は変わってしまった。シロツグは仲間の兵士の反対にもめげず宇宙パイロットに志願してしまったのである。
かくして「王立宇宙軍」の威信と名誉挽回の宇宙飛行計画が開始された…。

DVDとのセット販売時から、画質等に関しても辛口の評価が多いようで、あまり期待をせずに購入しました。
従来のＤＶＤも所持しているので、見比べてみました。
再生環境は、自作ＰＣ、ＷｉｎｄｏｗｓＸＰ、再生ソフトWinDVD9Plus。
ＤＶＤはAll2HDでアップコンバートをかけました。
ＤＶＤ＋アップコンバートで十分との意見もあるようですが、わたしの環境では、Blu-rayに完敗です。これは、あくまでもBlu-rayが出るまでのつなぎ、あるいは無い場合のごまかしですね。
ほかの古いセルアニメ作品のBlu-rayはまだ見ていませんが、この作品はBlu-rayになった価値があると思います。画質、色が圧倒的にきれいになっています。もちろん音も。
すでに他の方から指摘されていますが、古い作品ですので、画質がよくなった分セル画の汚れ（？）や傷も目立つようになりましたが、オーディオでいえばレコードに乗っているノイズのようなもので、これも作品の一部でしょう。
アナログな雰囲気も味わいながら、当時の劇場での鑑賞を思い出させられました。

SFにおける最重要な素地　"異世界"　を、アニメーションとして高貴に表現されている稀有の作品。
観る以外に、この作品へ何も付け足すことはありません。

ちょっと云い方が堅いっすね。ヌルくクダけます。
新進気鋭のアニメスタジオの初公開作品。
スタジオジブリにナウシカがあるように、ガイナックスにはオネアミスの翼があります。
メタボに慌ててガイナックスの元締め(だった?)岡田さんの驚異のダイエット本に見入るより、ジャンクフードたっぷり抱えてオネアミス10回観る方が、人生大事っす！

友人に自宅で見せまくっていましたが、あのシーンでは、同席するのがいたたまれず、お茶を給仕にと、こそーり部屋を抜け出していました。

ここでは特に内容について述べない。この作品はCGに頼らないアナログ的な手法により制作された作品である。現在のCGによるキッチリした映像になれている方にはフニフニの絵に見えてしまうかもしれないが、それがアナログ的な良さなのである。DVDでは限界がありブルーレイによって初めてフイルムのアナログの雰囲気を伝えることができるようになった。だから俺はブルーレイでの鑑賞を勧めるのである。
