今から30年前の77年にサンリオ映画「親子ねずみの不思議な旅」の
同時上映作品として公開されたチリンの鈴、バラの花とジョーが
収録されたDVD。

バラの花とジョーはコマ数の少ない少予算作品ですが、やなせたかし氏の
暖かい画調のスチールが作品の随所に散りばめられており、素晴らしい
作品です。冬が訪れるエンディングにおいて、下界の悲劇を知る由もない
妖精がただ雪を降らせるシーンが泣けます。寺島尚彦氏の手による、同じ
テーマを四季によって変奏させるという技法で作曲されたBGMも秀逸です。

チリンの鈴は、親をオオカミに殺された子羊が自らを鍛えて復讐を果たすが、
自らも怪物のような姿になり、永遠の孤独に生きるという、ニーチェの
ツァラトゥストラかく語りきを思わせるような筋書きです。自然の掟=無差別殺戮
といった変なフィロソフィが目立ちますが、細部の誤謬に目をつぶって鑑賞すれば、
それなりに楽しめる内容です。

総じて、とても楽しめる一枚でした。

子供時代に観ただけにもかかわらず、この年まで最も深く心に刻まれていた作品、それがチリンの鈴でした。
この作品には安っぽいメッセージはありません。
人生、親子の本質をシンプルにかつ淡々と描写します。
生みの親でなければならない母、本当の父でなくとも父として存在できる師、
子供を守る優しさの象徴である母、子供を鍛える厳しさの象徴である父、
子供の為に死ぬ母、子供に殺される父、
子は母から旅立ち、師となるものを父とする。
求めなければ何も変わらないが、強い意志を持てば人生には不可能は無いことを象徴するチリン。
その一線を越える勇気、いつかは一人で厳しい社会に立ち向かう現実。
性善説の通用しないこのような作品こそ、子供に見せてもらいたいと切に思います。
