ビリー・ジョエルの最高傑作アルバムといえば、イノセント・マンでしょう！！
イノセント・マンは、正しく捨て曲なしの大傑作だと思います。
しかし、あえて彼の１枚を選ぶなら、ボクはこの「ニューヨーク52番街」なのです。
ビッグ・ショット〜オネスティ〜マイ・ライフという流れが最高ですし、
オネスティはバラードの傑作で、個人的にワイフとの思い出深い曲なので外せません！！
そうそう、古い話ですが、国産第１号洋楽ＣＤは何あろうこの「ニューヨーク52番街」だったのですよ。
ちなみに邦楽第１号は、大瀧詠一ア・ロング・バケーションでした。
ところで、ボクのＸＰでは、エクストラ映像が上手く再生できませんでした。
何故だ〜！！

「ストレンジャー」の成功で気を良くしたビリージョエルが同じようなコンセプトで、さらにスケールアップをして作り上げたのがこの作品。この作品は最初の３曲、「ビック・ショット」「オネスティ」「マイ･ライフ」でまずガツンときます。心を奪われます。「ビリーってすごいな」と感動させられます。そのあとの曲もビリージョエルのソングライティングの能力によって、すばらしい出来栄えになっています。ビリージョエルのイメージを確定させ、７０年代を代表するアルバムとしてこれからもずっと残っていく作品だと思います。一度聞いておいて損はありません。

この作品でビリーは本格的な成功を掴みます。ビリーの凄い所は、書く曲すべてがすべてサウンドとカラーが違う所で、本作ではそれが如実に表れており、1曲目から9曲目まで通して聴くとよくわかります。特に凄いと思うのは、4.7.9曲目の作曲力の凄さです。作風は努力すれば誰でもマネできますが、あのセンス良さは生まれ付きの物なので誰もマネ出来ないでしょう。
