魔法少女アニメも基本フォーマットが確立されていて、その中でどれだけ独自性を発揮できるかが勝負の時代になっていますが、この「リリカルなのは」に関して言えば、おっきなお友達向けの萌え萌えアニメのフリを見せておきながら、実は「萌え」は付随物で「燃え」こそが本筋、という展開を見せてくれました。一クール13話という制限の中で、主人公なのはとライバルのフェイトとの友情、という一点に絞って話を組み立ててきたのが成功の要因だったと思います。最終回なんかはほとんど任侠映画のノリで、とても魔法少女ものの萌えアニメ、という話ではないくらい。
これが正統だとは思いませんが、魔法少女ものの進化の一つの方向を示すいいシリーズでした。

ひょんな事から大きな力を得た主人公が宿命のライバルと出会い、人智を越えた激闘を繰り広げつつ徐々に友情を深め合う・・・そんな王道的バトルストーリーは、これまで「スクライド」「ドラゴンボール」「ガンダム」など数多くあるが、まさか深夜放送の魔法少女アニメで見られるとは思ってもみなかった。
敵味方どの人物も魅力的で見応え抜群。
最終回も実に爽快な結末で満足。

主題歌はオープニング・エンディングともアニメの内容にマッチしていてイケる。
特にオープニングの重厚で悲壮感あふれる歌声は個人的に気に入った。

このDVDには、第十二話と第十三話が収録されています。
プレシアが世界を道連れにしようとするのを、なのは、クロノ、そしてフェイトが止めに向かう話です。
最終話はマジで泣けます！
楽しさと感動がギッシリ詰まった魔法少女リリカルなのは！ついに完結です！
