もう、やりたい放題です。

いわゆるメロコア系寄りのアレンジでホーンまで付いてるのに
打ち込みの音と息も合ってる『I Love You』
懐かしい感じなのにしっかりロックしてる『希望の詩』
タイトルとは違って『楽しくやろうぜ』というノリの『戦場のギタリスト』
(『俺の方が先だかんな(笑)』(高見沢俊彦･談))
1997年に出来る予定で漸く完成の『Candle Light』(お疲れ様[笑])
今年の秋(!)のさいたま国体のテーマにもなっている『TRY』

各曲の存在価値も然ることながら、このアルバムは特に通して聴いて欲しい。
近年稀に見るコンセプトアルバムとしても十分な仕上がりとなっている。
惜しいのは、CCCDであるために音質が非常に悪い！(これが★１つ取った訳)
東芝さん！もう一枚買うから、作り直してよ！

前作が異色だった感が強いが、今作はアルフィー節の大道(特に「希望の詩」「TRY」など)が味わえる。とはいえ、現在のアルフィーが感じる強い時代観が作品には反映され、その解釈によって評価の分かれる作品であろう。新境地といえるDESTRUCTION、I love youの疾走感、ありそうでなかったANOTHER WAYの清涼感などひとつひとつの作品がまったく別の宇宙を持っているミクロコスモスのようなアルバム。サウンドの統一性はないが、歌詞に前面にあわられる、生への無条件の肯定は、アルフィー独自のメッセージとしてひしひしと迫ってくる。

一言で言えば、「絶妙」です。これは、長い間、第一線で走り続けているバンドならではのものです。らしくない曲も、聴いてる内に、すっかりアルフィー節になっていくのがたまらない。また、ライブへ行きたくさせてくれる、そんな一枚です。
