Album Details

2008 digitally remastered and expanded dual disc edition features deluxe packaging, bonus tracks and exclusive bonus footage. The dual disc comes housed in a deluxe digipak with extra artwork including the original 'gore' artwork inside the digipak. The DVD footage contains in depth interviews with the band members, exploring their humble beginnings and lifting the lid on the controversy that brought the band to a wider audience. Contains six unreleased bonus tracks from the Symphonies of Sickness demo sessions. Symphonies of Sickness proved a breakthrough for Carcass and cemented their reputation at the forefront of the emerging Grindcore/Extreme music scene. The album is widely regarded as the last word in Grindcore and led to a whole legion of artists imitating the primitive nature of the recording. The band were immediately championed by John Peel who played them relentlessly on his influential radio shows. Relapse.

カーカスのセカンドアルバムです。
アルバムジャケットはファースト同様強烈です。まさにアルバムタイトル通りの病んだジャケットです。
ファーストでは強烈に病んだグラインドサウンドでしたが、本作品ではそれにプラスしてデスメタル的な部分も見受けられます。カーカスがグラインド系バンドのみならずデスメタルバンドにも多大な影響を与えている理由がこのアルバムを聴くとよくわかると思います。
ファースト同様デスメタル/ゴアグラインドの名盤中の名盤です。

捨て曲無しの歴史的名盤と勝手に断言。ビル・スティアの吐き気を催す重低音ヴォイスにジェフ・ウォーカーの絶叫ヴォイスを上手く絡め、そこにケン・オーウェンの超絶ブラストが炸裂と、正にゴア・グラインドらしい作品に仕上がっています。ブラスト・ビートの入ったデス・メタルの初期段階としても有名な作品であり、この作品に影響を受けたアーティストは決して少なく無い。ジャケットは１st同様に強烈です。

人気絶頂のナパームデスをやめて、こんな凄いバンドを作ってしまうビルスティアーはやっぱり凄い！
