カップリングの曲「1」は、2002年12月現在、まだどのアルバムにも収録されていない曲です。

「街のどっかで誰かが待ってる 眠れないよとベルが話しかけてる」
「うまくやれそうにない仲間たちだけれども
だいすき」
「いつも待ってる誰かのちょっかい
いつまでも太陽から逃げていたいさ」
「さわれるものこわれるってこと 忘れたくない」…「1」

結局「僕たち」って孤独なんだね。完全に理解しあえることなんてありえないし、いつだって相手を傷つけるかもしれないし、相手に傷つけられるかもしれない。傷つけたり傷つけられたりしたくなければ、自分のまわりに防御膜でも張るしかない。でも、それだけだとさみしいから、ときには誰かに、その防御膜を破って、自分の中に侵入してもらいたい。でも、それはたまにだけ。いつもべったりされると、却って迷惑だ。所詮「僕たち」は孤独なのだ。
でも、そんな「僕たち」だから、「僕たち」それぞれの向かう道、目標は違うのだけど、「僕たち」みんながその目標に向かって突き進めるように、「僕たち」みんなの願いが叶うように、「僕たち」は祈っていきたい。それが「僕たち」のたった「1」つだけの祈りなんだ…。

僕個人としては、「1」は「桜」へと続く曲として、川本ソングからは絶対に外せない名曲です。

　90年代後半の緊張感、つまり人類絶滅とか地球滅亡なんて有り得ないだろう。でも巨大戦争・天災ならあるかもしれない…。という漠然とした不安の中で、恋人と引っ付いてもしそんな事が起こっても一緒だよ、という歌。
　90年代後半なら全世代に、今日でも漠然とした不安を持つ若者には響くであろう。
　しかし、21世紀になった今日。ノストラダムスという単語が出て来ると、聞いているのが恥ずかしい。ので2番変調以降の部分は聞くのに勇気が必要。
　
　90年代後半は、終末論が大流行だった。それだけ本やテレビ番組が作られたという事は、需要があり「まさかと思うけど、やっぱ世紀越えって緊張するよね」って気持ちを多くの人が持っていた。
　
　この曲は人は出会うべきパートナーが居る。男女は1/2に過ぎない。という発想を前提として、片割れを見つけて人として1になってから、災難を甘受(対決ではない）したいという願いを神様に訴えている。
　
総括　いい歌だけど恥ずかしい。
