　小学生１年や２年の作文は、結局、親が誘導して書くことが多いようなので、どのようにして積極的に書かせるか四苦八苦していました。本書を開くと、目からうろこというか、作文の上達は、子供にまず基本的なことを何十回、何百回書かせて、文章の約束事を覚えてもらうことから始まるのですね。｢子どもたちにとつぜん上手な作文を望んでいませんか。急にたくみな表現を求めていませんか｣という著者の言葉は、心にぐさりときます。急がば、回れで、基本の積み重ねが、この時期には一番大切なようです。世の中に出回っている児童向けの作文上達の指導本は、むしろかなりの優秀児を対象にしているので、国語が苦手な低学年の子供には本書のようなドリルが最適です。
