これまで数匹のワンたちを看取りました。

そして、これまで、ワタシは獣医師さんに対して、漠然と、こんなふうに思っていました。

先生！病院でお世話になっているのは30分だけですが、
ホントウは、23時間30分、あなたの知らない世界（心配や苦労）があるのですよ！！！

でも、この本の著者、石井先生は、飼い主とイヌの23時間30分を、ちゃんとわきまえた上で、
犬がシアワセに虹の橋を渡れるように！
飼い主さんが、感謝イッパイ、虹の橋に送り出して上げられるように、、、

具体的に、はっきりと、そして、医学的にキチンと、、、愛情を持って、
「老犬の介護」を解説してくださっています。

豊富なイヌの種類も、きちんと網羅されており、病名も具体的です。

また、老犬ならではの“痴呆”“夜鳴き”“お散歩”など、日常のケアから、
寝たきりになってしまったときの“床ずれ”“食事”“排尿・排便”のケアまで、
私たちができることを、理解しやすい言葉で説明してくださっています。

老犬のお世話をしているときには、必死です。
アタマの中がパニックになります。時間間隔も麻痺します。。。

そんなとき、この本は、ゴチャゴチャになったアタマとココロを、ふと、整理してくれます。
これから介護を迎える飼い主さんにも、今、まさに寝たきりワンの体位を変えている飼い主さんも、是非、本著を手にとってみていただきたい、と思います。

朝日新聞に著者が連載してたということと、実家に介護中のワンがいるので購入しました。
とても読みやすい本で、堅苦しくなく、時間がない人でも無理なく目を通すことができます。
老犬のベッドや床ずれ枕のつくり方など実用的な部分もあります。

それぞれの犬の寿命やかかりやすい病気、そして獣医さんとの付き合い方なども書いてあるので、是非、ワンコをはじめて家族の一員にしょうと考えている人にも読んで欲しいです。
そしてもちろん老犬がいる方には参考になる事もあるので読んで欲しいです。
とにかく寝たきりになる時に起こる床ずれには要注意なので、うちのワンも気をつけてようと思います。
そして安心してかかれるかかりつけの信頼できる獣医さんを見つけることも大切だと思いました。
