和久 峻三
1930年(昭和5年)、大阪府に生まれる。京都大学法学部卒。中日新聞記者を経て、司法試験に合格後、京都で弁護士事務所を開設するとともに、多彩な作家活動に入る。72年「仮面法廷」で第18回江戸川乱歩賞受賞。89年には「雨月荘殺人事件」で第42回日本推理作家協会賞を受賞、法廷ミステリーの第一人者として不動の地位を確立し、“赤かぶ検事シリーズ”など多くの作品を発表する(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

TVでフランキー堺の好演を観て、原作も読んで見たのだが、人物描写に深みが無く思った程の出来ではなかった。ストーリー展開が雑なのである。

主人公を地方の検事に設定する事によって、弁護士の娘との法廷での父娘対決を実現させたアイデアは買える。都会の検事では、あり得ない事だから。だが、この父娘を含め登場人物の造詣に深みがないため、物語が平板なのである。事件自身に取り立てて凝った仕掛けはなく、赤かぶの事件運びは強引なので、ミステリ的な興趣がないのである。それに原作を読んで驚いたのは、作者がワザととしか思えない程、物語を雑に書いている事で、父娘対決と言う設定の上に胡坐をかいて、その他の部分を疎かにしたとしか思えない。その分、TVの製作陣や俳優陣が丁寧な仕事をした事が良く分かる。

自分のアイデアに酔って、物語を丹念に書くという基本姿勢を見失ってしまった作品。

　先輩に赤かぶ検事の小説も面白いと聞いて読んでみた。
　赤かぶ検事のシリーズはテレビしか見たことがなかったので赤かぶ検事の名前の由来など初期的なことがよくわかった。
　事件を法廷まで持ち込んで、いつもぎりぎりに証拠などを見つけるのは危ない法廷だなと思うけれど、小説だし、面白い。
　ただし、読むと赤かぶ検事は、あの今は亡き俳優の姿が浮かびます。
