古今東西のすばらしい名言の数々。

それをサミュエル氏がものの見事にまとめあげています。

・水も自分も深く掘れ、“最高”が手に入る。

・「すぐれた本、すぐれた人」に学ぶこと。

・今いる場所でベストを尽くせる人が幸せになる。

ちょっと読んだだけでも鳥肌が立つほど本質にあふれた言葉が数々あります。

目次を見ると
　１．もっと熱く生きよ、道は開ける
　２．使命感（ミッション）に燃える
　３．仕事をやり抜く
　４．見識を高める
　５．よい人間関係をつくる
　６．人生に勝利し、人生を楽しむ
という大きな６つの章わかれています。

自分がピンと直観で必要だと思っているところだけを読んでも役立つヒントが満載です。

古典として残っている言葉は人間の本質をズバリついてきます。

同著である自助論を先に読んだので目新しさはありませんでしたが、新鮮でした。
たまに読むと「うん、うん」とうなずきたくなることばかりです。
当たり前のことを書いていますが、このような本を読むことによって当たり前のことを実行できるようにがんばりたいです。

スマイルズの歴史的名著『自助論』の姉妹編とも言うべき、名著です。内容的には、『自助論』とそれほど変わらない感じなので、『自助論』が気に入った方には、こちらもオススメします。ただし『自助論』と同じで、時代的または地域的限界を感じる所もありますが、読んで損のない本だと思います。
