我々ビジネスの環境では、社内教育も含めてPCを使わない日は、ほとんどない。まして、インターネットが爆発した90年代後半以降家庭でも、PCは日常のツールとして、色々なサービス環境を劇的に変化させている。一方、教育におけるIT技術の活用は、米国でも極めて保守的な状況に留まっているようだ。
クリステンセン教授の破壊的イノベーションの理論を、教育環境に当てはめて、Student-centricな教育システムの採用を説いている。
ビジネス理論を丁寧に説明していあるので、教育関係者にも読みやすいと思う。

「イノベーションのジレンマ」で有名なクリステンセンが，この理論を教育現場の現状に適合させ（教育を広義の変革すべき技術の一種と捉えて考察），特にコンピュータ導入を具体的な破壊的イノベーションと捉え議論している．コンピュータ教育は現在までにその潜在能力を成果として引き出せていないが，その原因は既存のシステムに無理やり合わせこんでいるが故と主張している．教育へのコンピュータ導入（オンライン・ユーザー・ネットワーク，モジュール方式の教育体制）の可能性は極めて高く，その破壊的イノベーションとしての潜在能力を引き出す本格的な成果は，新規の教育システムとして導入すること（無消費層への攪拌）が不可避であるということ（現状の教育システムと切り離した異なる視点からの発想が必要だと）．実際，昨今の先進国（米国も，日本も）における教育がうまくいっていないことは事実であるから，変革の必要性は疑う余地がないということが現行の教育を再考すべきスタート点と言える．

確かに，教育を受ける方にも個々の最適な受け方があり（one to one Business的発想），これを一律に一人の教師が多くの学生を教える（いわゆるマスプロ教育）には本来無理があったわけである．これをコンピュータを導入して（現状のままではなく，多様な生徒のニーズを個々に対応可能な新システムの構築ツールとして），個々の学生に最適化された教育を実践する方向に向かうとの主張は，教育版イノベーションのジレンマを形作る背景と言えなくはない．ただ，正直ピンとこないところはある．まずはコンピュータ教育が本当に教育版破壊的イノベーションになりうるか？　である．教育はビジネス界とは異なるというか，人間形成の場に同じ発想を本当に適用できるのかの疑問，ちょっと違うんじゃないかな？　とは感じた（ただ，可能性はあるとは思うが）．それでも，教育の在り方について，これまでとはまったく異なる切り口（イノベーションという指標を用いたこと）で議論している斬新さは評価に値する．最後の解説（根来先生のコメント）にもあるように，現実理解の仕方，その発想の豊かさにこそクリステンセンの魅力があるのであろう．教育界に身を置く方は読まれるとそれなりに得るところは多いと思います．
