Pythonに関することが一通りまとめてあるので，知識の整理に役に立ちました．
例えば，リストが辞書のキーとして利用できないことは知っていたのですが，タプルは利用できることは知りませんでした(よく読めば Webに載っているマニュアルにも書いてありますが…)．

また Python3 に関する章もあって，Python3 と Python2 との違いや，Python2 から
3への移行方法を知ることができ，とても役に立ちました．

日本人著者による、日本人のためのPython入門書。
1からPythonを始めたい人にとっての、定番書になっている本です。

日本人著者によるPythonの入門書は少ないので、その中で比較すれば、確かに定番と言っても差しつかえありません。ただし、同じような内容で、Perlの入門書だったなら、定番にはなっていなかったでしょう。

僕には、この本がターゲットとしている層がイマイチよく分かりません。非常に基礎的なことが書いてある箇所に、「そんなこと後でいいんじゃ？」と思う記述がぽつぽつとあったりします。他言語の経験者が読むには退屈ですが、Pythonからプログラミングを始める初心者には理解しにくい記述があったりと、要旨にまとまりが無い印象を受けました。
また、読み進めるにつれて、ただでさえ数行しかなかったサンプルコードが減っていきます。正規表現のメソッドや関数の紹介の辺りで、使い方と説明だけで一切サンプルコードが出てこなかったときは、さすがにゲンナリしました。
あと、サンプルコードにシェルを使うやり方は、好き嫌いが分かれると思います。chapter14でコードをファイルに記述して実行しますが、それまでのサンプルのほとんどが、シェルの5行以内のコードだったのに対して、いきなり20行クラスのコードが出てきて面食らいます。Pythonの可読性の高さという長所を語るには、短くても10行くらいのコードが必要なのですが、この本でその長所を体感することは非常に稀です。
まぁ、当たり前のことですが、自分で色々書いてみて学べ、ということなのでしょう。独習シリーズのような鬼例題のノリを期待すると、肩透かしを食らいます。

総合すると、どんなプログラミング言語でもいいので、挫折しててもいいから1つくらいはかじった事がある人、くらいがターゲットとしては妥当です。自分でどんどん勝手にコードを書いて試してみるような人には向いています。
RubyやPerlが分かる人なら、簡単に読み進められます。…が、そういう人たちにはあまり意味が無い本なので、そういう人たちには「初めてのPython」を薦めます。

まぁ、それでも、チュートリアルより断然分かりやすいのは保証できます。いまや800ページを超える大著となった「初めてのPython」に比べても、分かりやすさという点では「みんなのPython」のほうが上です。
ただし、改定前のレビューで何方かが仰っていましたが、「みんなのPython」に書いてあって、「初めてのPython」に書いていない有益な情報は、恐らく1つもありません。「初めてのPython」が難しい人に対しての、ワンクッション的入門書です。
どちらにしようか迷っている人は、書店で「初めてのPython」を読んでみて、理解できそうならそちらを、無理そうなら「みんなのPython」を買うと良いかもしれません。(その場合、結局2冊とも読むことになりますが……)

初級者向けの内容でまとまっているかと思います。
Python自体がわかりやすい言語なので、読み進めるのは易しいと思います。

但し、この本には誤りもちらほら見受けられます。
・記述が誤っている
・サンプルコードが誤っている
などの誤りがあります。

著者によるサポートページが残念ながらまだ機能していないため
ある程度、正誤を自分で見極められる読者が対象になるかと思います。

他のプログラミング言語を習得しているような中級以上の方には
まどろっこしく感じる説明もあるかと思います。
