巻の途中で投げ出さないこと。前半は、作画が安定してないどころか、破綻しまくり
（左腕が撃ち落とされたのに、地面には右腕が転がったり）だし、物語の基本設定は、
旧家で両親と死別して孤立したお姫様を、無敵のヒーローが守るという、笑っちゃう
ものだし、やることといえば、13mm口径のバカデカ銃で、銀の弾を撃って、吸血鬼を
やっつける！　作者、何も考えてないだろう？　さらに婦警の顔が変だし、服はもっ
と変だ。これでは萌えない。
これが、第三勢力バチカンのアンデルセン神父が登場したところから、狂気がヒート
アップ、物語が疾走し始める。画面の魅力もうなぎのぼり。婦警の服も変わる。
さらに巻末の埋め草「クロスファイア」がいい。由美江がテロリストに向かってきっ
た啖呵。イカレっぷりと、調子のよさが、2巻で本格的に花開く、作者の言語感覚の
異能を示している。
1巻はプロトタイプ／プロローグに過ぎないのだから、すぐに2巻以降も読むべし。

2巻でヤン・バレンタインの登場。雑魚キャラ扱いなのに、こいつのセリフの魅力と
きたら半端じゃない。汚い、下卑たことしか吐かないのに、全部のセリフに、読む
者を引き込む力があふれている。「声に出して読みたい日本語」の裏を行ってる。
あちらが美しい日本語の宝石なら、こちらは禍々しい日本語の凶刃。ここまで言葉
を研ぎ澄ますのなら、年に1冊平均と遅い発刊ペースも堪えるしかない。

吸血鬼を題材とした漫画は有象無象数限りなくあるが、これほど
迫力ある画風と独特の台詞回しがを持ち、私の印象に強烈に残した
漫画は有りませんでした。何回も読み返したくなる・・・とても面白い漫画です。

画力だけでは、物語は進まない。
また、逆に物語がしっかりしていても、ある程度の画力が無ければ駄目だと、私は思う。

この物語は、キャラクターにも、その独特な言い廻しも味があると思う。
物語の展開は早く、テンポも良い。
凄まじい画力によって描かれた戦闘は一度見て圧倒されてしまった。
吸血鬼メインのマンガだったら、確かに山ほどある。

だが、このHELLSINGは、私が見てきた吸血鬼マンガとは一味も二味も違う。

とにかく読んで見て欲しい。
本当に凄いから。
