デザインホテルの正確な定義は知らないが、デザインホテルというよりも日本の著名な国内ホテル（旅館）、外資ホテルが主に収録されていて、ちょこっと新興ホテル、外国のホテルが紹介されているという、チョイスとしては無難な内容。

よくホテルの紹介で部屋、設備紹介とサービスの紹介で完結しているホテル本があるが、そういう事はホテルのホームページ観ればわかることなので、他の付加価値が欲しいところなのだが、この本は設備紹介、サービス紹介がほとんどなく（それが、この本の短所なのかもしれないが。）一つの部屋の細部（インテリア、アメニティ）に重点を当てている所に、個人的に有用性を感じた。

だが、あくまで重点を当てている程度で、全てのインテリアを網羅している訳ではない点は残念に思う。
紹介されているのは主に、時計や電話などの小物や、香水や入浴剤や飲料などのアメニティグッズに限られる。
ソファやテーブル、ベッドといった家具の詳細も紹介してほしかったが、
とりあえず、デザインホテルと題した本でホテルのインテリア、小物に重点を置いて紹介している姿勢は好ましい。
ホテルのインテリアやアメニティを真似したい、参考にしたい人に有用な本。
