NLPとはNeuro Linguistic Programmingの略で、日本語では神経言語プログラミングとして訳されています。

一見すると一種の読心術のように見えるが、実は本書を読み進めるとそうではないことがわかります。

まず、NLPはその目的をエクセレントライフを送ることと定義しています。
それを下記の問いかけによって自分自身でつくりあげていくことです。
・あなたのほしい成果は具体的に何か？
・成果が手に入ったらどのようにわかるか？
・成果は、いつ、どこで、誰とつくるか？
・それを手に入れるとどうなるか？
・あなたがすでに持っているリソースは何か？
・現在、成果を手に入れるのを止めているものは何か？
・成果を手に入れることは、あなたにとってはどのような意味があるか？
・では、はじめの行動は？まず何から始めるか？

そして、これを達成するために相手との信頼関係作りをするための技法が紹介されています。
・ポジションチェンジ：相手の立場に変わってみる
・バックトラッキング：相手の話を伝え返す
・タイムライン：未来から語りかける
・エクセレントサークル：リソースに満ちた状態をイメージする
・リフレーム：物事のとらえ方を変える
・サブモダリティ変換：現状認識の印象を別のものに変換する
・ディソシエート／アソシエート：客観的・主観的に誘いバランスの悪さを改善する

また、相手との違いを見出すためにニューロロジカルレベルという枠組を紹介しています。

能力：How
信念：Why
自己認識：Who

非常に包括的にNLPの考え方を網羅しており、まさに自らの心の動きをコントロールするための最初の指南書としてうってつけと思います。

あらゆるNLP関連本を読む前に、読んでおくべき本。
基礎的なことは、ほとんど網羅してあるので、この本を読んでいるか、読んでいないかで、他の本の理解のスピードや深さがちがってくるはず。

ＮＬＰ（神経言語プログラミング）という難しそうなネーミングからは想像できない程、身近なコミュニケーションの理論、それがＮＬＰです。

「相手の気持ちになって考えなさい！」って小さい頃言われた経験を持っている方が多いのではないかと思います。でも、どうやったら相手の気持ちがわかるのか、教えてもらった事、ありませんよね？

本書には、間違いなくそのヒントがあります。

最近、認知度の高くなった「コーチング」でもよくでてくる「ラ・ポール」、「バックトラッキング（あいての言葉をそのまま使う）」といったスキルは勿論、「リフレーム」や「ポジションチェンジ」等、有効なコミュニケーション・スキルがその利用方法とともに詳しく紹介されています。

肝心なことを忘れないうちに。<!P>ＮＬＰは、学問的なものではなく実践するための理論であり、実践することで即効果を実感することができます。コミュニケーションにお悩みの方は勿論、コミュニケーションを磨きたい方など全ての方にお薦めできる１冊です。是非手にとって、そして実践してみてください。
