改訂によりポスト9.11を踏まえた記述が充実した。安全保障の守備範囲が新たな脅威だけでなく経済への広がりが顕著だから、まとめ直すのに大変だったでしょう。当然ですが政策提言のためのものではありません。基礎理論です。本当に教科書なので、きつい人は安全保障のポイントがよくわかる本―“安全”と“脅威”のメカニズムから先にどうぞ。

9.11テロにより、日本人にとって安全保障がかなり身近になりつつある。国家間戦争だけでなく、経済も国民生命も神出鬼没のテロに備えることなしに安全を確保できなくなった。食や知的財産など「経済の安全保障」という大きな領域もできつつある。

政治・経済・外交・軍事の国家主権４要素のなかでどれ一つ欠いても安全保障政策のバランスはとれない。政治学者＝経済音痴軍事無知、経済学者＝政治音痴軍事無知が残念ながら日本の標準です。広い視野をもたず各分野とのバランスを無視して、自分の専門領域だけを見て政策提言をして、政府内でも言論界でもこの悲惨さが蔓延している。政治家は兵器スペックなんかオタクみたいに知らなくてもいいから、軍事の必要と運用くらい勉強してくれよ・・・。

教科書の責任として、この後の参考文献をあげてるのはいい。しかし！第４版で索引がないってどういうことでしょうか。同分量のナイの国際紛争-理論と歴史 原書第7版は丁寧に事項索引と人名索引を作ってますよ。あと軍事学入門もそろそろ改訂版お願いします。
