副題通り『蜷川親俊日記』を読んだだけ。大して附加価値が加わっている訳ではない。
同記に登場する人名のカウントなど行っているが、著者自身認めるように精緻なものではない。

また延々と先行研究を引用した上でそれらを批判した挙句、
「引用した多くの論文から、実に様々なことを学ぶことができた。
（中略）ただ、やはり、こうした疑問には応えていただきたい。」
と、まるであなた任せな態度は如何なものか。

学術書では勿論ないが啓蒙書にしては一般受けしなそうであるし、
帯に短し襷に長しといった印象である。
