　この本を購入したのは、昨年５月、後ろ左足をちょん切られた野良猫うーちゃん（♀、１？才）を保護した直後でした。
　病院で治療を受けさせるため１ヶ月ほどケージ飼いしていたのですが、人が近づけば「っふーっふー、ぺっぺ（唾を吐く）」と威嚇、マンションでは飼えないなあーと諦めかけていた頃に、藁をもつかむ気持ちで買った「猫の飼い方」本の１冊でした。
　触られるのが嫌いな猫の慣れさせ方もこと細かに書かれていて、「なるほど！」と思うことばかり、バイブルのように参照しながら接しているうちに、うーちゃんも我が家でなんとか落ち着きました。その後には、トイレをきちんと使わない！問題も起きたのですが、ちゃんと対処法が書いてありました。おまけは、先住猫（10才♂）が朝３時半に、眠る私を起こす癖まで直せたことです。
　高見恭子さんの日本語訳もたいへん良く、読んで翻訳の違和感がありません。これから猫を飼う方ばかりでなく、猫との生活を改善しようと考えている方へもお勧めです。
