この本は、経営学者の伊丹氏が「経営」論ではなく「経営者」論を、
曰く言い難い「顔つき」・「育ち方」などの6項目について論じている点で、
かなり異色である。

しかも、各項目については松下幸之助、本田宗一郎、西岡常一など、
限られた人物のみを取り上げており、
具体的な経営者の事例を多数積上げて検証するという方法ではなく、
伊丹氏の考えを中心に述べられている。

しかし、曰く言い難い項目が各論に入ると極めて論理的に構成されており、
非常に説得力のある内容になっていると思う。

これは恐らく、伊丹氏が経営学者として研究対象としてきた或いは接してきた
数多くの経営者の実像から浮かび上がったあるべき経営者の姿を、
見事に敷衍化・論理化して記述しているからではないだろうか。

公私混同などの「人格的ゆるみ」、まだやれると居座る「醜い退き際」など、
全体として現実の経営者にとっては耳が痛い内容も多いだろうが、
あるべき姿を知る上で極めて参考になる必読の書ではないかと思う。

『よき経営者の姿』ということで、「顔つき」から始まる本書は、なんというか経営者としての”心構え”とか”在り方”といった抽象論が展開される。大企業のエグゼクティブをイメージしたような、正統派の内容。ポイントポイントでの論調には示唆に富むものがあり、読んでおいて損は無いが、良くも悪くも「広く浅く」となってしまった印象。個人的にはもう少し切れ味があると良かった。折に触れて内省するようなときの参考にはなるかも。

日本を代表する経営学者であり、これまでに数多くの経営者と接してこられた伊丹先生の集大成ともいえる経営者論。経営者に求められる本質的で普遍的な要件を、丁寧にまとめられている良書です。むしろ、近視眼的になりがちな今日においてこそ。注目すべき内容と言えます。現経営者は、自身のあり方と後継者への引き継ぎ方を考えるうえで、得がたい箴言となるのではないでしょうか。また、経営者として育つ場のあり方にも触れられており、これから経営者になる方、あるいは経営者育成に携わっている方にとっても、おおいに示唆に富む内容です。まじめに「経営」を考えている方にとっては、心に響くと思います。
