これまでにも航空用語事典はJAL・ANAからそれぞれ出ていたが、航空事業の全体像について航空会社自身が本の形にまとめたのはこれが初めてではないだろうか。
はしがきにもある通り、航空事業におけるレベニューマネジメントやネットワーク戦略など、これまで著作が極めて少ない領域についても言及されており、航空事業が抱える旬のテーマについて、「入門」の名に違わず分かりやすく整理されている。
ANA総研の編著なので当然といえば当然だが、公平性を保とうとしつつもやはりANAに関する記述が前面に出がちなことと、各章で取り上げているテーマ（特に後半の第2部）について、より深堀した"続編"出版への期待を込めて、星4つ。

航空業界を取り巻く状況と経営戦略について，ANA総研及びANAの社員による書．
平易な記述であり，この産業の状況を把握するのに適当な内容である．
ただし，その業界の当事者が記載したため，業界の問題点や将来性について楽観的過ぎる傾向はある．例えば，空港整備特別会計の問題点について，日々報道されているにも関わらず，正味2頁にまとめられている．一番興味を持って読んだ環境対策については，気候変動・温暖化に対する内容は入っているが，空港の騒音公害などは記載もなく，あまり力を入れられていない．このことは，業界の環境問題に対する取組みの遅さを示していると取られても仕方あるまい．また，CSR的な視点の記載が無いのも不満足である．
