　ナンタケット島出身のアーサー・ゴードン・ピムの物語

　チビのフランス人は、なぜ手に吊繃帯をしているのか？
　エドガー・ポオその生涯と作品　ボードレール著

ポオが書いた一番長い小説「ナンタケット島出身のアーサー・ゴードン・ピムの物語」が収録されています。話も長いけどタイトルも長い。

とはいっても，他作品に比べると長いというだけで，他5作を一緒に収録しても450P程度しかないので，途中で力尽きることはないでしょう。むしろ，短いくらいです。お話の最後は，わざとなのか，飽きたのか。もうちょっと，書いてほしかった。

ストーリーは，ピム少年ができ心で，親に黙って友達の船に乗り込むところから始まります。船での叛乱，漂流生活，南の島での原住民との戦闘，そして未知の大陸へ。
こうやって書くと，割とありがちな冒険小説の題目ですが，そこはポオということで。

ピムの話ばかり書いてしまいましたが，僕のお気に入りは，「群衆の人」。
