嘘を6つのタイプに分類し、世間を騒がせた「偽」の問題の構造、見破り方、対応などを、精神科医である著者が解説しています。
もともと日本人には「嘘も方便」といった考え方や、パチンコの景品交換など法律を厳格に適用しないといった曖昧さがありましたが、厳格に嘘を嫌うアメリカ型に変化してきていることを指摘しています。またシロクロといった二項対立でニュースを流すマスコミの報道を鵜呑みにしないメディアリテラシーにも言及しています。
読了後、あらためて表紙を見ると、嘘付きならば手が抜けなくなるというローマのサンタ・マリア・イン・コスメディン教会の「真実の口」が描かれていたのは愛嬌。

　精神科医によるウソや詐欺の心理分析を期待したけれども、総論的に
　「情報リテラシー」の大切さを説いただけの内容で少々肩すかしを食らい
　ました。でも、主張自体は正論でしょう。

　日本がウソを赦さない社会に変容しつつあるのは著者の言うとおりで
　同感しますが、何故そうなって来たか、その結果としてこれからの社会は
　どうなっていくのか、そうした分析と展望まで垣間見せてくれたら星５つ
　でしたが、残念、星３個だけにさせて下さい。

　旺盛な著作活動そのものは、市井の読書人、精神医学・発達障害
　の一素人研究家として応援しております。
