3.0 out of 5 stars 左から右へ、鏡の世界から現実へ, 2007/6/17
同じ作者の同じモチーフを扱ったものとして（「絵本」という畑の違いを認識しつつも）
どうしても過去の代表作と比べてしまい、
その世界観や主人公の「弱さ」に物足りなさを感じてしまいます。
鏡の世界から現実の世界へ戻ってきたとは言え、
ジョシュアはいつまでも、あの森の家で美しい伯父さんたちと暮らす事を
この先も望み続けるのではないかという寂しさが残るお話でした。

左ききであることで、独自の世界をもったまま、不思議の国のひとたちと時をすごし、成長した主人公はプイっと、突然消えてしまう。そして、自分の過去と、左手の不思議をパズルを解くごとく、納得していく。それは、もちろん現実とはかけはなれた人々の世界で、彼はそこに戻されるために、左ききの鏡の向こうにいたようだった。語り手の恋人に現実へともどされていくのだが、永遠とか、現実逃避とかを模索する世代にも、あるいは、少し年齢の下の世代にも、読みやすい、そして、心で何かをとらえようと出来る作品だと思う。
