アイルランド人は赤い鼻をしていつも千鳥足。
イタリア人は女の子ばかり見ている軽薄モン。
イギリス人はステッキをついて気取って歩く、といった各国の国民性を
表現したカリカチュアというのは、見たことがある。
本書はそんな各国の国民性をモチーフに、ストーリー化したギャグマンガだ。
マンガでなく文字にしたものには「世界の日本人ジョーク集」というのがある。
シリーズでいろいろ出ている。
他国民から見たその国の国民性をからかったもので、この種のものはマンガも
ジョークも皆面白い。
からかわれる原因を考えもせず、侮辱だと言い募るのは野暮というものだろう。
諧謔を解さない人は、さびしい。

　ウェブでヘタリアを読んで気に入り、１も２も買いました。
　絵が下手とか読みづらいとかは、この作者の味でもあると思うので、私はさほど気になりませんでしたが、本がすかすか過ぎるのがひどいと思います。
　せこいことを言うようですがたった133ページほどの本のうち、ただ「ヘタリア２」と書いてあるだけのページ（全部同じ絵）が12ページも入っています（数える自分もどうかと思いますが）。
　しかもコラムと称して、すごく短い文章にたった一こまのマンガが書いてあるだけのページが15ページほどもあります。つまらなくはないですが、ふつうのページ作りをすればほんの２〜３ページで収まりそうな量です。
　登場しない国まで入れて水増しした登場国の紹介ページが10ページ、目次だのなんだのまでごていねいについて、ちゃんと作品と呼べる作品の収録されているページは全体の４分の３足らず。これで1000円はぼりすぎでしょう。
　いくらなんでも、ファンに甘えすぎていると思います。ヘタリアという作品自体はとても好きなので、もう少しまともな本作りをしてほしかった。

　放送自粛などの話題になり、ずっと気になっていて1ヶ月以上迷ってついに買いました！
1巻は特に読みにくい印象でしたが、何度か読み返すと飲み込める感じでした。2巻は読みやすくて良いです。そして爆笑しました・・・3冊目が出たら是非買いたいです！

　この本に限らず、国によって違う歴史観や価値観は、見る側に不快感を与える事もあるかもしれません。立場によっては、笑って流すことなど出来ない！と仰る方もいらっしゃるのではないでしょうか。

　【非難による放送自粛について】一般に認知、あるいは社会常識と一括りに言ってみても、各個人の認識や考え方には違いがある。それを間違っているとか、常識はこうだ！などと批判するのはまあいいとしても、圧力を加え、自分の意思に従わせるなどというのはいかがかと。
　たかがマンガ。と流せるかどうかで懐の広さが伺える一つの判断材料になる気がします。

　この本を読み終えて、自国と他国の違いを、良い・悪いではなく、お国柄だと捉えることがまず必要なのだと思いました。

　かくいう私も、四季の行事が欠かせません。でもそれが普通と思ってますよ。もちろん。それが何か問題でも？？
