著者は日本人の現役傭兵。

こういう風に、一般の人間がコンタクトできるようにしてくれる人がいないと、「傭兵の生活」についての情報なんてものは全く入ってこないので、よくぞ書いてくれたなあと思う。
新聞にこんなことが書いてあるわけでもなし。

タイトル通りに、傭兵の生活については本当にリアルに書かれてある。すごいね、やっぱり。

「日本人で傭兵」って言うと、やっぱり「なんで？？」ってよく聞かれるらしい。
それに対する答えもちゃんと書いてある。
知りたい人はどうぞ。

世の中、自称「傭兵」は多数いるが、本物の現役傭兵で、その情報を発信しているのは私の知る限り、高部氏のみである。
新刊が発行されないと、死んだのでは？と、心配するが、いまのところ生きているようでほっとしている。
戦争が必要か不要か、そんな議論は別として、傭兵という世界があるのは事実であり、その世界の今を知ることの出来る貴重な著者である。ぜひ一度読んでみることをおすすめする。

現役傭兵・高部正樹の最新刊。「コンバット・マガジン」連載に加筆したものだそうです。

本書の内容をざっと列挙すると……ビルマ・カレン戦線での新兵訓練／湾岸戦争とイラク戦争の直前にイラクからオファーを受けた話／著者の原点・自衛隊航空学生教育隊／傭兵のリクルート事情／苦痛・恐怖・飢えと渇き・コンバットストレス・戦友の死／イラク派遣自衛隊への助言／傭兵ならではの自己責任論／民間軍事会社と斉藤昭彦氏の事情を推理／ロンドン自爆テロ実行部隊の事情を推理……など。
いずれも、著者の言葉を借りると「ビッグマウス」ではない、というか、困難な仕事を選んだ人らしい、ウソのない（と思わせる）地に足の着いた語り口です。好感が持てる。

イラクでC130輸送機は離着陸時にフレアをばんばん使ったほうがいい…といった経験からくるテクニカルな話は、素人の私にも説得力をもって迫ってきます。技術的・理論的な話もいいんですが、本書の白眉はもっと実感的・情感的なことかもしれない。20年近く戦場に身を置き、砂漠・密林・市街戦の経験がある著者が「死も怖いけど、痛いのはもっとイヤ」と言う。砲弾の破片が身体を切り裂くとはどういうことか、恐怖が伝わってきます。

本書でもっとも感動的なのは、著者が「バディ」に寄せる信頼感が率直に出ているところです。そして彼の原点である「自衛隊」への愛着と誇り。著者の「戦友を信じろ」「簡単に人を信じるな」という言葉には千鈞の重みがある。

本書を石原慎太郎に読んでもらいたいと思うのです。石原氏はよく挑発的に発言しますが、戦争って何することか、ちゃんと想像できてるのかな？　自分はもう齢だからいいんだろうけど…。
本書が垣間見せる戦争の実像は、ちまちました思想闘争や歴史認識など吹き飛ばすくらい、圧倒的です。慎太郎以外の人も読んでください。ぜひ！
