松本 清張
1909(明治42)年12月、福岡県企救郡板櫃村(現・北九州市)に生れる。53(昭和28)年「或る『小倉日記』伝」で第28回芥川賞を受賞。56年、それまで勤めていた朝日新聞社広告部を退職し、作家生活に入る。63年「日本の黒い霧」などの業績により第5回日本ジャーナリスト会議賞受賞。67年第1回吉川英治文学賞受賞。70年第18回菊池寛賞、90年朝日賞受賞。92(平成4)年8月死去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

酒井順子氏の解説で、２編収録されている。

２編目、熱い空気　というのが家政婦はみたシリーズの原作
とおもわれる作品である。あまりの下世話度に少々ショック、というか
食傷気味になった。女性誌の連載風であるが、
よく巻末をみたら、なんと『週刊文春』昭和３８年４月から
７月の連載であったそうだ。
当時相当愛読者が多かったろう。今でもこんな話はかけそうである。
内容自体はまったくフルさを感じさせない。
さしずめ、現代の林真理子さんあたりが、この作風に似ていやしないか。

自分で書きながらへんに納得をする私である（酒井順子ふう？）。

本書に収められた「事故」の、他の松本作品にも共通する特徴は2つあるように思う。

ひとつは「事件篇」と「解決篇」の大きく二部にわかれていること。

もうひとつは、完全犯罪と思われ、捜査が行き詰まりをみせたかに思われる事件が、予期していかなかったほんのわずかな糸口から綻んでくること。そうして糸口をとらえられたが最後、捜査員が一気に真犯人のもとに殺到し、その予感とともに作品があさやかに幕を下ろすのである。

この手法は「鬼畜」など、他のいくつかの優れた短篇の松本作品にもみられるように思う。

「事故」はこれら構成上の工夫のほかにも細々とした細工がなされ、そのひとつひとつになるほどと頷かされるところにも読み進めていく醍醐味がある。「事件」は著者の工夫や意匠に知の部分で共鳴する。対して「熱い空気」は女性の嫉妬を軸に共感をあおるトーンになっている。

たしかにテレビ向けは「熱い空気」のほうだろう。だが僕は本書なら「事故」のほうを推す。また、酒井順子の解説はいわずもがなの典型で、せっかくの余韻が覚めるので読まない方がいい、と付け加えておきたい。

「事故」
日常のちょっとした秘密が殺人を招く。
清張さんの作品は決して遠い存在の事件じゃないところに面白さを感じます。
この作品も無難な感じで仕上がってます。

もう一編の作品は　「家政婦は見た」的な作品ですね。
女性の嫉妬心は怖い・・・。
