藤原 伊織
昭和23(1948)年、大阪府生まれ。東京大学文学部仏文科卒業。大手広告代理店に勤務の傍ら、執筆活動を始める。昭和60年に「ダックスフントのワープ」ですばる文学賞を受賞。平成7年、『テロリストのパラソル』で江戸川乱歩賞、翌年には同作品で直木賞受賞。平成19年5月逝去(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

５月17日が藤原伊織の命日である。2009年５月17日は三回忌になる。
この文庫本「ダナエ」の元になっている単行本は、
亡くなった2007年１月に出版された。中編３つの比較的薄めの小説集である。
中でも「まぼろしの虹」が発表されたのが
2006年の11月。おそらくは死を覚悟し、病が深刻になる直前の
「凪ぎ」のような時期に書かれている。
この中編を読むだけで、この本を買う価値はあると思う。
「中編集」とはいえ、３篇とも、書かれた時期が異なる。
３篇目の「水母」は2002年発表だから、
まだ食道ガンの宣告を受ける前。だからこの「水母」には、
「テロリストのパラソル」に通じるハードボイルドさと、重い暗さがある。
しかし他の２篇は、ガン宣告のあとに書かれている。
とくに「まぼろしの虹」……。

「ダナエ」も、どこか「救い」が用意されている作品で、
深読みすればガン宣告による藤原伊織の「突き抜けた諦念」のようなものさえ感じるが
「まぼろしの虹」には、虚無や暗さはほとんどなく、むしろ透明感が漂う。

巻末の解説を書いているのが、直木賞を同時に受賞した小池真理子。
この解説が秀逸だ。藤原伊織の世界を、こう表現している。

　「荒ぶる諦観」……。ただ黙って弱々しく諦めているのではなく、
　生きていくためにこそ諦めねばならないことに立ち向かい、泣きながら牙をむく。
　そんな種類の諦観が伊織さんの中に根深く潜んでいたのではないだろうか。
　
藤原作品のロマンティシズムとリリシズムは、好き嫌いも分かれる。
しかし、駆け抜けていったこの作家が、自らの「世界」を
はっきり刻印していったことだけは間違いない。
文庫化にあたって改めて読んでみるとともに、故人の冥福を祈りたい。

この本で一番心に残るのは小池真理子の解説かもしれない。
それほど秀逸である。
解説を最初に読む方は読後もう一度読みたくなるであろう解説である。


さて、作品だが、藤原伊織の作品と思って読むとあまり面白くない。
作者の死や死に対する覚悟と絡ませて、作品を楽しむのもいいかもしれないが、
私はそういう読み方はしたくない。
藤原作品の新作をもう読むことができないのだという事実を
再確認してしまいそうなので。


３篇の作品からなるが、
どれも「静かな」作品である。
長編のエッセンスだけを取り出し、
あえて静謐の中で淡々と流れていくという味付けをしたという感じ。
作者の死と関連させて読みたい人にはおすすめする。
