大阪にあるパドマ幼稚園に取材した幼児教育論。
パドマ幼稚園の教育は全国的に見て最も最先端を行くものと思います。
一般には、はだかん坊教育の部分しか知られていないが、本書によると体育・知育のバランスを十分配慮したカリキュラムを実行しているように思います。幼稚園の経営がお寺で園長先生も僧籍を持っているとの事。仏教と最新の幼児教育がうまく融合していいて、こんな幼稚園に子供を通わせたいと思いました。斎藤氏の教育者としての見識には多くの気づきを頂きました。これから子育てに入ってゆく方は必読だと思いました。

よく子どもの集中力が足りないと先生たちはぼやいています。
子どもが集中できないのは、集中するとはどういう状態なのかをまだ知らないからなんだと思います。
具体的な作業をやらせることを通じて、集中とはどういう状態なのかを実感させる必要があると思います。
ゆえに、訓練によって集中力を身につけさせることができるのだと思いました。
