・陰山英男氏との共著を読み、著者である小河氏を知りました。氏は公立中学校の元ベテラン教師。現在は、海外（アジア）の教育改革にも奔走している実力者です。

・本書は、ゆとり教育により学力が大きく低下した公立中学生の国語力を建て直すという「実践」の中から生まれました。その成果は、実際の学校現場で実証されてきています。

・本書は、頭で分かろうとする本ではありません。お手本となる「良い文章」をカラダに染み込ませることで、国語力を醸成しようとするものです。そのために、音読し転写するという作業を毎日継続します。ただし、国語の力・言葉の力というものは、一朝一夕のうちに身に付くものではありません。それなりに時間を必要とします。

・本書を我が子に買い与えた結果は、数ヶ月後に確認できました。特に「書く文章」が大きく変わってきたのです。それまでの子供じみた表現やチグハグな言い回しが影を潜め、大人びたキチンとした文を書くようになりました。継続することさえできれば、その成果は確実なものだと実感できました。

理科と数学を先に購入しており、国語までは、と
躊躇していたのですが良くできた内容でした。
ある程度のことは家庭や塾でも行っているものの
手紙や自己アピールの文章までは・・・さすがです。
長く教育の場にいらした先生が　
厳選してるだけはあると唸ってしまいました。
このシリーズ全部にいえるのですが
余計なイラストもなく、不必要な色彩もなく
１ページの内容も多すぎず、シンプルで美しいです。
使用する子どものことを考えて作成されていると思います　
製作者の熱くあたたかい思いが伝わってくる本です

旧態依然とした国語教育に風穴を空ける一冊といっても過言ではない。
大きな声で読み、きれいな字で書き、透徹した感性で感じ、熱い思いで学習を継続する…。
このようなあまりにも基本的な学習態度を、当たり前のように求められる本である。しかし、これこそ現代の国語教育がもっとも見落としてきたものでなかろうか。
毎日のトレーニングを続けるうちに、勉強をする上での基本的な思考力や日本語力が知らず知らずのうちに身につくのは不思議である。
いわゆる学業不振の生徒は、このレベルでつまづいていることもおおい。多くの悩める小中学生と、悩める小中学生を抱える家庭や塾にとってもまさに革命の書である。
