一息で読み終わり、一言「すごいなぁ」と。
全ページ、全コマ通して溢れる漫画としての魅力。
その内の一つは間違いなく登場人物の魅力でしょう。
仙人然とした猟師である「鵜平」は老人らしく、頑固で
山に生きる猟師らしく謙虚で、男らしく、親らしく
情に厚い人物です。その娘である「輪」も血は繋がって
無くとも鵜平の娘らしく親を思い、巫女らしく神秘を湛えてます。
脇を固めるマイク、ケビンの二人とも、一筋縄ではいかない
過去や信念を持った、魅力ある人物です。
全七話という短編でありながら主要な人物の重厚な
魅力、そしてストーリーの密度、テンポ、絵の迫力。
全てがハイクオリティ。あぁ、ハイクオリティ。

きっと何度も読み返すであろう名作。力強くおすすめします。
最後に、この作品が名作であるのには「敵」であるフクロウの存在
があるのを忘れてはいけません。異形でありながら間違いなく
生物なんだ、と描いた事で、この作品が成り立っている気がしてなりません。

どこかで見たような絵柄の内容のない、ひたすらダラダラ続くバトル漫画に辟易し、すっかり漫画というものから遠ざかっていたときに偶然この作品に出会いました。
こういう漫画が読みたかったのです！！！！
無駄のないストーリー、テンポの良さ、キャラクターの描き方、メッセージ性、圧倒的な迫力と緊迫感、本当に素晴らしいです。
とくに邪目のフクロウというキャラが秀逸です。恐ろしい存在なのに、とても切なくて読み終わる頃には大好きなキャラになっていました。

いい映画を観た後のなんともいえない満足感が得られる、そんな作品です。

さすが藤田先生だと思いました。
主人公が老人という設定も珍しく、
非常にスピード感があり読みやすかったです。
巻末の後記でフクロウに対する知識も増えました。
藤田先生には、ぜひともまた長編に挑戦して欲しいものです。
