インド、ドイツ、パリなど世界中の話題が盛りだくさん。
情景が思い起こせるような描写になっています。
例えば、第１１夜。
「「さて、ポンペイの絵をお見せしましょう」お月さまは語りました。「私は郊外の墓場通りとよばれているところにいました。そこにはすばらしい記念碑がたっていて、ずいぶん昔には陽気な若者たちが頭にバラの冠をのせレイ姉妹とおどったところです。」」

　童話を子供のころ読んで育つことが大人になってどのように人生にかかわってくるのはわたしにはよくわからない。けれど、エルジェのタンタンの冒険シリーズをはじめ、エロール・カインの素晴らしい絵で覆われた童話の本やピーターラビットの絵本は大人になったいまでも、わたしの心を魅了する、そこには、なにかがある、それはなんであろうか？
　長いあいだにわたって読んできたこの本もそうだ。アンデルセンの童話に触れるたびに、まるでラベルが書いた音楽、亡き王女のためのパヴァーヌやマ・メール・ロワのような精緻あふれる音楽と共通するそこはかとない悲しみや抒情が言葉のオブラートにくるまって、心地の良い音楽のゆに響く、こんなに美しい世界に触れることができることは困難な人生を歩む私たちへの慰めでもある。

　童話作家として有名なアンデルセンの作品。絵のない絵本ですから、
もちろん絵はありません。２０歳過ぎて読んだのですが、なんというか
感動ではないのですが、グッと来るものがありました。子供も大人も幅
広く読んでほしい作品です。
