学生時代、歴史にあまり興味が持てなかった私。家には歴史漫画もあったし、伝記物ならいろいろ読んでいたのだけれど断片的な知識を体系的に整理していく力がなかったのでした。この本は、歴史上とても有名なエピソードを年代順に配列してあり、主に人物中心のドラマ仕立てで時代の一こまがうまく描かれていて、物語集として面白く読み進めて行く内に自然に歴史が俯瞰できるように構成されています。陰陽師、川中島の戦い、忠臣蔵など、学生時代ちゃんと勉強しなかった私でさえ普段の生活の中で半ば常識として聞きかじっているストーリーがいろいろ出てきて、自分自身ワクワクしながら子どもに読み聞かせています。苦痛な詰め込みでしかなかった年表上の出来事が、奥行きを持って目の前に浮かぶ喜びを感じます。子どもの歴史への導入にもきっと役立つでしょう。一話毎にイラストの雰囲気も全く異なり新鮮。１０１の名場面というけど、実際に読み応えがあるのは半分強だったので☆一つ減らしました。

分量が多く、小学生に通読させようとすると
かなりハードルが高いので
折に触れてひとつずつ読める環境に
置いておくのがいいかもしれない。

しかし昔出ていた類書に比べると
ビジュアルも段組も
各段に読みやすく、わかり易い。

子供の夏休み用に購入しました。
2年生の長男、1年生の姪っ子と競争して読んでいました。
1項目が長くなく低学年でも読みやすいようです。
大人でも楽しく読めます。
